The RGV Chapter - IEC Inc is a non-profit organization approved by the State of Texas and U. S. Dept. of Labor. Our primary mission is to provide services to members. These are independent electrical contractors. Since there is such a shortage of qualified licensed journeymen/women electricians, the IEC offers a program to help individuals become qualified as electricians through a government approved process known as the Apprenticeship.
The IEC Apprenticeship follows the Federal Regulations and Guidelines as established by the U.S.Dept. of Labor. An "Agreement" is signed by the sponsor and trainee which outlines the details of the Apprenticeship. Once this form is registered with the U.S.Dept. of Labor the date of "Indenture" is established and on-job-training (OJT) starts. The agreement also indicates when eight pay raises will be earned based upon success in the program.
