The United States Department of Labor - Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training, has accepted and approved the RGV Chapter - IEC, Inc. Electrician Apprenticeship Program. Under this approval, the IEC is required to have an "open" application process following a period of advertising to the public. By the end of the application process, all qualified applicants will have been interviewed by the IEC Apprenticeship & Education Committee. This committee will review all records presented by the individual and the application form. The individual will then have a personal interview with the committee. During the interview each member of the committee will rate the applicant in categories relating to success indicators for becoming an electrician throught the apprenticeship. By the end of the application period, all rating scores will be ranked from highest to lowest and acceptance into the program will be based upon that order and the quantity of job openings available to the applicants to receive OJT.

Once accepted throught the ranking process, the individual signs an "Apprenticeship Agreement Form" which is registered with the U.S.Dept. of Labor. The date of "Indenture" will be so indicated on the form. In no case will it be after the deadline date indicated by the U.S.Dept. of Labor for that training period. The new apprentice must maintain weekly time records signed by his/her supervisor and submit them to the IEC. These records are used for certifying the Apprentice for Pay Raises, Promotions in Training, and Graduation.
